Sexually violent predator moves into central Springs neighborhood

The Colorado Springs Police Department says a sexually violent predator has moved into a neighborhood northeast of downtown.

Juan Carlos Sanchez, 42, is registered in the 800 block of Bennet Ave., which is near N. Circle Dr. and E. Cache La Poudure St.

Police say Sanchez was convicted of sexual assault on a child in El Paso County in 2005 and sexual assault in El Paso County in 2013. They say he was also convicted of failing to register as a sex offender in 2013.

Sanchez is one of 16 sexually violent predators registered in Colorado Springs.

Police are required by law to notify neighbors whenever a sexually violent predator moves to a new location.
