D60 could lose more than $1 million for low student attendance

Pueblo School District 60 could be losing more than $1 million for declining student attendance.

The state Department of Education kept track of attendance from Sept. 24 to Oct. 8.

D60 said it is short 163 students from its attendance goal, and D60 could lose more than $1 million.

As reported last month, D60 said there could be cuts to jobs, transportation, software and textbooks.

The district said the state will determine how much money it will receive by January.

“We feel confident that there won’t be any severe changes in classrooms or teacher positions,” D60 Communications Director Dalton Sprouse said.

D60 has until Jan. 31 to make any changes to its budget.
