Police say man tried to torch north Colorado Springs bank

Colorado Springs Police have released surveillance video that they say shows a man trying to set a Wells Fargo bank branch on fire.

The incident happened in the 5400 block of N. Academy Blvd. on September 8, 2015.

Police say the man tried to set a glass jar filled with gasoline on fire before placing it in the overnight drop box.

The video shows a ball of flames erupt from the jar and the man turning and running away.

The gasoline did not ignite the bank building, but police think the man may have been burned.

If you know anything about this attempted arson case, you are asked to call Colorado Springs Police at 719-444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP (7867).
