Loveland police fatally shoot man at pizza restaurant
Authorities say a Loveland police officer has shot and killed a man who reportedly had a knife and threatened a customer at a pizza restaurant.
The Reporter-Herald reports police responded to a report Monday that a man had been throwing a bicycle at nearby traffic. When officers arrived, the suspect ran from them into the restaurant.
Police say the man was carrying a knife and had grabbed one of the customers. An officer then fired his weapon, hitting the suspect. The man was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
The names of the deceased man and the officers have not yet been released.
The officer who shot the suspect and two other officers at the scene have been placed on paid administrative leave.
The shooting continues to be investigated.
