Pueblo City Schools offering students free breakfast, lunch

Students in all Pueblo City Schools (District 60) will enjoy free breakfast and lunch every day.

District 60 received a federal grant that pays for students to eat breakfast and lunch. There are no restrictions for eligibility — it’s open to every child. District 60 spokesman Dalton Sprouse said the district qualified for the Community Eligibility Program offered through the U.S. Department of Agriculture

Sprouse told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that the meals come at no charge to the school district.

“We know that students receive the majority of their meals during the school week at school and we also know that they need to have good nutrition so that they can have a great learning environment,” Sprouse said.

The grant lasts for one year. The district can reapply for the money in the future.
