Man shot beside Pueblo church

Pueblo police are investigating after a man was shot near a church on the city’s south side.

It happened just after 8 a.m. Wednesday in a parking lot beside New Life Bible Church at the intersection of South Prairie Avenue and Tucci Lane. Pueblo Police Sgt. Eric Gonzales says the shooting was not in any way connected to the church.

He says a 21-year-old man was shot in the side parking lot and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

There’s no word yet on what led up to the shooting, but Sgt. Gonzales says it may be drug-related.

Sgt. Gonzales says no arrests have been made, and no one is in custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
