unique perspective on the james holmes trial from a southern colorado man. he’s been in close contact with the holmes family… and despite the feeling of relief at the verdict by many, he tells krdo newschannel 13’s greg miller he does not want to see the shooter get the death penalty. bob autobee knows what it’s like to suffer a loss… his son was killed 13 years ago by a shooter. sot:i’ve had 13 years to think about it. it’s all i thought of for 13 years what happened to my son. there’s no question in his mind that holmes is guilty… sot: it wasn’t unexpected, it was obvious from the get-go that he was guilty. he sat with james holmes’ family during most of the trial. but given the facts of the case…and his own history of loss – he still doesn’t wish to e holmes, or anyone be executed. sot: you go through depression, i’ve been there and done that and it’s not a good thing. we think that killing is the answer …but it’s not. standup: after his attorneys exhaust every appeal process and the judge signs off on the execution warrant, holmes will be brought here to the state penn in canon city, where he will eventually be executed. 78 people have been executed in colorado since it was instituted. nathan dunlap was supposed to be the next person executed for killing four people at an aurora chuck cheese in 1993. but governor john hickenloope r stopped the execution by granting a reprieve. in autobee’s experience, killing won’t lead to closure … even though victims of the theater shooting say otherwise. greg miller, krdo newschanne l 13. again, sentencing for holmes begins monday morning. again, sentencing for holmes begins monday morning. and we have
