Storm produces camera-ready clouds in Southern Colorado

Mother Nature was the focus of many camera lenses Wednesday as storms rolled through Southern Colorado.

The storm produced interesting clouds capturing people’s attention on the eastern plains.

Wyatt Taylor’s baseball game in Calhan was cancelled. He snapped photos from the field of the storm as it rolled through.

“It just looked cool so I just wanted to take a picture and save the memory of it,” said Taylor.

Desa Davis and Krystal Hernandez were working at Rush Cafe in Rush when the wild weather moved in. The two were worried the clouds circulating above them would turn into a tornado.

“One minute you go outside and it’s nothing. And then wow, big funnel cloud and it was coming down. And then it was like no, it’s going to go back up,” said Hernandez.

Davis grew up in Nebraska and was used to monitoring storms. She said Wednesday’s developments concerned her.

“I’m looking at the sky, I’m going from this side to this side, making sure, this isn’t something we need to be worried about,” said Davis.

In Colorado Springs, lightning struck Randy Emery’s home. Emery was home at the time.

“All of a sudden, crack BOOM! Just really really loud,” said Emery.

Firefighters reported smoke and water damage inside the home. Emery said he is grateful the things that matter are OK.

“We are fine, our puppies are fine, so everybody is good, it’s just damage so hopefully everything will be fine,” said Emery.

There are stronger and more severe storms expected Thursday.
