Layoffs hit Compassion International

The Colorado Springs nonprofit Compassion International says it has laid off 48 employees, including at least 40 in Colorado Springs.

Compassion says it determined the cuts were necessary during this year’s budgeting process. Additional money was saved by not filling open positions and through natural attrition.

“It is our goal to always be good stewards of the funds that sponsors and donors entrust to us,” said Tim Glenn, Compassion International’s Director of USA Communications. “Compassion regularly reviews how our resources are being allocated to best support our mission of rescuing children from poverty.”

Compassion International employs 1,033 people in the United States and 1,820 people abroad.
