Police release name of suspect in Chelton Road shooting

The Colorado Springs Police Department has released the name of its suspect in a shooting that happened in an east side neighborhood Wednesday night (4/22/15).

The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. in the 100 block of North Chelton Rd., which is west of Pikes Peak Ave. and Academy Blvd.

Police said one person was shot outside of a home. Officers originally responded to a family disturbance. They later found a man who had been shot several times.

Police said the victim suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds to the lower torso.

Shortly after, police found the suspect in his car, in the area of North Chelton Road and Platte Avenue.

Xavier Harrison, 22, faces a charge of First-Degree Assault.
