Pueblo ranks high in state for dogs biting people
Dogs are known as man’s best friend, but those best friends can be aggressive sometimes in Pueblo County.
The Pueblo City-County Health Department said the county ranks high in the state when it comes to dogs biting humans.
The department said close to 500 people were bitten in 2014.
Jody Carrillo, who is a division director at the Health Department, said stray dogs contribute to this number.
She also said when it gets warmer people need to be careful.
“Summer time is coming, so that means more people will be out exercising, walking, biking, and so just be on the lookout because that’s when the dogs will be out also,” she said.
Carrillo said owners should get their pets vaccinated just in case their pets get bit by a rabid animal.
