Breast cancer patient turned author and motivational blogger, has died

A Colorado Springs woman, who used her medical condition as an example of strength and courage in the midst of an aggressive cancer diagnosis, has died.

“We’re fighting very hard, but my cancer is very aggressive,” Kara Tippetts said in November, 2014.

Tippetts was a champion for life, even contacting terminally ill Brittany Maynard last year, encouraging her not to go through with assisted suicide.

Tippetts was first diagnosed with breast cancer soon after she evacuated her home during the Waldo Canyon Fire.

But she took her battle public, writing a book and posting daily motivational messages on a blog.

She believed her diagnosis was part of God’s plan to help others.

“In our family, we very much love God and feel and understand that He is the author of our breaths, and that He’s going to perfectly plan my last breath,” she said last year.

Even months before her death, she put her whole focus in her faith.

“Instead of marching on to social media and ranting and being unkind, I asked people to find a place to extend your love to one another,” she said.

Kara Tippetts was 38 years old.
