City says 5,000 potholes filled in one week

The City of Colorado Springs says 5,000 potholes were filled in the city last week.

The city says Streets Division crews were able to take advantage of nice weather to address trouble spots across the city.

“The harsh winter we’ve experienced this year has played havoc on our city streets, but our Streets Division has done an amazing job of responding to the significant number of new potholes that have occurred as a result,” said Travis Easton, Public Works Director. “Because we recognize that potholes and the overall quality of our city’s streets are a major concern for our community we will continue to work diligently to maintain our streets in the most efficient and effective manner.”

The Streets Division was on full call-out with 48 crewmembers filling potholes last week. Additionally, the City Streets Division filled 6,853 potholes in January throughFebruary 2015. During the same time last year 3,997 potholes were filled, a 58 percent increase in repairs.

Citizens are encouraged to report potholes by calling 719-385-ROAD or reporting them by using GoCo Springs, the city’s smart phone application.
