Arrest made in officer impersonation case

Fremont County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the area of Ecology Park in Caon City on Sunday (3/1). Someone called deputies saying a suspicious man was identifying himself as a U.S. Marshal.

The reporting person told deputies he was sledding when the man approaching him and told him he had to leave the area. He says the man was not wearing a uniform and refused to show a badge, so he called deputies to report the activity. The suspicious man ran away when that call was made.

A short time later, deputies located Joshua Davis, 29, in the area matching the description of the suspicious man. Deputies found he was not a U.S. Marshal and he was taken into custody.

Davis is being held at the Fremont County Detention Center on the charge of impersonating a peace officer, a class 6 felony.
