Woman killed in three-car crash in Black Forest

One woman died in a three-car crash in Black Forest Thursday.

State Patrol said it happened around 3:50 p.m. near Burgess and Wakely Roads Thursday.

A 2015 Hyundai heading west on Burgess Road swerved to avoid a 2009 Nissan stopped in traffic, State Patrol said. The Hyundai hit that car and a Mercedes heading east on Burgess.

The passenger in the Hyundai, Cynthia Fields, 55, of Colorado Springs was taken to Penrose Hospital, where she later died. Troopers said she was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Mercedes, Ramona Williams, 46, of Colorado Springs and her passenger were also taken to a hospital.

The driver of the Nissan, Bridgette Martin, 45, of Colorado Springs, was not hurt.

State Patrol said drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash. But an investigation is ongoing.
