Side streets and parking lots remain icy through tomorrow morning

Side streets, parking lots and sidewalks will remain icy tonight before warmer weather arrives over the weekend.

Major roads like I-25 were wet Friday evening, but were expected to become icy in spots overnight as the temperature drops.

Colorado State Patrol is on accident alert in El Paso and Teller counties. The Colorado Springs and Fountain police departments are also on accident alert.

Ice coated windshields added to the misery for drivers who were forced to stand in the cold, in some cases for as long as 20 minutes, scraping away the thick frost so they could see.
