Pueblo West Board finding ways to spend its share of the marijuana tax revenue

The Pueblo West Metro Board has $200,000 from the recreational marijuana tax and the chairman said most of the money should go toward emergency crews.

Chairman Lew Quigley said people have raised concerns about the roads and the people want them either paved or repaired.

He said the top priority should be helping the firefighters.

“I would put the fire station or at least to look at it. If you live in the western part of Pueblo West your fire services aren’t up to the standards (they) should be and with that station, at some future date, it is going to improve the fire services for the district,” he said.

If you have ideas on how the money should be spent, you can go to the Pueblo West Metro Board meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Pueblo West Metro District Administrative Office on 109 E. Industrial Blvd. to share your thoughts.
