Dogs missing after Pueblo County barn fire

Two dogs are missing and a barn was destroyed after a fire in Pueblo County Thursday night.

It happened around 5 p.m. in the 6200 block of Highway 78, just outside of Beulah.

Firefighters said someone called 911 after noticing the flames while driving down the highway.

Two dogs were inside the barn and firefighters say the have not found them. Crews said they likely died. The barn is a total loss.

Pueblo Emergency Services Master Deputy Sheriff Dylan Jacketta said battling a fire in frigid temperatures can be tough.

“Always with sub zero temperatures in those situations it’s a challenge for us to suppress fires sometimes it’s a challenge just to get fire trucks out because of the conditions,” he said.

The owners of the barn were not home at the time, but firefighters were able to contact them.
