City leaders place a bet on the national championship

Fans are not the only ones feeling national championship fever. City leaders from Pueblo and Mankato are also getting in on the action by placing a friendly wager.

Pueblo City Council President Steve Nawrocki and Mankato Mayor Eric Anderson placed a bet on home grown treasures for Saturday’s national title game between Minnesota State-Mankato and CSU-Pueblo.

If CSU-Pueblo wins, Mankato will have to send a case of smoked pulled pork to the Steel City.

If Mankato wins, a case of green chili salsa will be sent to Mankato.

But Nawrocki, who went to college in Mankato and Pueblo, said he doesn’t see that happening.

“I’m anxious. I already know what the chili tastes like, so I’m looking forward to CSU-Pueblo winning,” he said.

The game is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. in Kansas City.
