NASA Astronaut visits Pioneer Elementary

He is part of an elite club, and Wednesday night he was in Colorado Springs.

Colonel Alvin Drew, a NASA astronaut who has flown on two shuttle missions had an inspiring message for students and parents at Pioneer Elementary School.

He was part of the school’s Space Night, which also featured a portable planetarium, art from the students, cardboard creations and even robots.

Colonel Drew told the students to keep dreaming and they could achieve anything, even being an astronaut.

He said, “to have someone come and visit and you could see that they were just like you…that they would get in trouble. That they could be an astronaut of anything else that they want to do.”

Colonel Drew said that he does between 30 and 40 visits to school a year. He also told us that the toughest questions that he gets come from 10 year olds.
