Four injured after crash on westbound Platte

Colorado Springs police is investigating a serious two vehicle crash on Platte Avenue between Arrawanna Street and Juanita Street.

Officers say the crash happened early Saturday morning. They report that a silver sedan travelling westbound on Platte collided with a red sedan as it was performing a U-turn from the eastbound lanes onto the westbound lanes.

Four people from the silver sedan were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Two people from the red sedan were also taken to the hospital but were not seriously hurt.

An investigation is underway, but Colorado Springs Police believe that speed, alcohol and illegal drugs are suspected in the crash.

Westbound Platte Avenue between Arrawanna Street and Juanita Street was closed briefly Saturday morning.
