Students in the home of the heroes are doing a project about heroes

It’s a project that only four schools in the world are part of, and Pueblo has one of them.

Minnequa Elementary School was chosen to be part of the Heroes Project.

The project gives kids a chance to show off their personal heroes to the other schools participating.

The other schools are in New York, California and India.

Khen Rinpoche, the founder of the Siddhartha School in India, visited Minnequa on Friday to talk to kids about heroes, education and his life growing up in northern India.
Melissa Patterson is the principal of Minnequa. She said this project is about more than just showing off who heroes are.

“What this program is doing is, it’s providing our kids with an opportunity to think in a more worldly perspective and to see the diversity that other countries and what our kids are fortunate to have versus what some other kids may not have,” she said.

The Heroes Project is a yearlong program.
