Escaped Jeffco inmate stealing cars, credit cards

An accused car thief who escaped from the Jefferson County jail on Sunday night is not only still at large but allegedly committing new crimes.

Authorities say 32-year-old Travis Sandlin has stolen a total of three vehicles along with credit cards, which have been used across the Denver area.

The latest vehicle Sandlin is accused of stealing is a Subaru Impreza in Highlands Ranch.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says he’s been stealing cars with keys left in the ignition and taking advantage of open garage doors to burglarize homes.

Sandlin managed to escape while in an outdoor recreation area at the jail, where he was being held on drug, weapons and motor vehicle theft charges.
