Police: Man arrested on light rail train after robbing bank

Denver police said a man robbed a bank on the 16th Street Mall then jumped on a light rail train to make his escape, KMGH reported.

Michael Whitington, 45 , faces a robbery charge.

The robbery happened at around 5 p.m. Tuesday (9/23/14) at a bank on the mall between Welton Street and California Street.

Police stopped the train a few blocks away and arrested Whitington.

Whitington is being held on $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court for an advisement on Tuesday.
