Man convicted of raping woman, 71, inside her own home

A jury has convicted a man of breaking into a Colorado Springs home and sexually assaulting the woman who lived inside.

The attack happened around 10:15 p.m. on the night of February 7, 2013.

Jacob Lashun Lewis was found guilty on all counts on September 23, 2014.

The victim said she was watching TV when she saw someone looking through her window. She said she went to her bedroom to get her gun. As she was going to leave her bedroom, the door burst open and Lewis attacked her before she could open fire. Lewis knocked the gun from her hand, pushed her to the ground, and raped her. He also stole the victim’s wallet, which had about $100 in it.

Sentencing was scheduled for January 8, 2015.
