Jury selection begins in double murder trial

Jury selection began Monday in the trial of a teenager who is accused of killing a Fort Carson soldier and his pregnant wife.

Macyo January is facing two first degree murder charges.

January is accused of killing David Dunlap, 37, and Whitney Butler, 35, in January of last year.

Police say the Dunlap’s were murdered when they walked in on a burglary at their home on Bassett Drive.

David Dunlap was a staff sergeant and helicopter mechanic for Fort Carson’s combat aviation brigade.

January was 17 at the time of his arrest, but he is being tried as an adult.
