Man sought in death of 2-year-old girl

Colorado Springs Police say an arrest warrant has been issued for Kevin Diaz, 23. He is facing charges of child abuse resulting in the death of a 2-year-old girl.

Police were called to a home in the 8100 block of Summerset Drive to investigate a report of an injured child at around 12:23 p.m. on September 6, 2014.

The child, identified as Maddilynn Hernandez, 2, died from her injures at around 6:30 a.m. on September 7, 2014.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy and ruled that the child’s death was a homicide.
