Sheriff’s office finalizes Black Forest Fire investigation report

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says it has submitted the final version of its Black Forest Fire investigation report to the District Attorney’s Office.

The sheriff’s office says it was able to complete its investigation into the cause and origin of the fire after receiving a report that it needed from the US Forest Service.

The report has not been released to the media.

Printed out, the completed report fills over eight 3″ three ring binders and includes thousands of pages of reports including forensic analysis, interviews, photographs, timelines and reports from numerous agencies, both Law Enforcement and Fire Personnel.

In a news release, the DA’s office said the sheriff’s office has not made any recommendations for charges to be filed in this case.

The DA’s office will review the report and determine whether it believes any charges should be filed.
