UPDATE: Victor water safe to drink following weekend firefight

The City of Victor says its tap water is once again safe to use.

The city administrator said Victor had to use all 150,000 gallons of its drinking water supply to put out a fire at the Miners Union Hall on Saturday, July 26, 2014.

Raw water was used to finish off the fire once the city supply ran out.

Raw, unfiltered water was also used to replenish Victor’s water supply, which is why a boil order was issued.

The Teller County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the boil order was no longer in place on July 29, 2014.

Victor residents we talked to said they didn’t mind making the sacrifice.

“I would give the shirt off my back for anyone here who needs help,” Victor resident Terry Bartell said.

“Let’s save the building and worry how to treat the water later,” Victor resident Dale Ray said.
