Highway 50 closed in La Junta, flash flood warnings across area

State Patrol reports that Highway 50 is closed in La Junta Saturday night due to flooding.

The road is closed from Swink to La Junta because of water on the roadways, state patrol said.

Meanwhile earlier Saturday, a tornado was spotted near Hanover as thunderstorms producing torrential rainfall stoked flash flood fears near southern Colorado burn scars.

The tornado was confirmed by weather spotters at 2:50 p.m. and was spotted about 20 miles southeast of Colorado Springs.

A flash flood warning is going on in El Paso and Pueblo Counties until 11:15 p.m. Saturday.

Bent, Otero, Crowley and Kiowa Counties are under a flash flood warning until 11:30 p.m.

Prowers County is under a flash flood warning until 1:15 a.m. Sunday.
