Colorado Springs child accused of threatening others with gun

An 11-year-old boy was arrested by Colorado Springs Police Friday night, after officers said he threatened other children with a handgun.

Police said it happened just before 7 p.m. in the 2500 block of Sierra Springs Drive in southeastern Colorado Springs.

Officers were called out to a report of a boy threatening other children with a gun. When police arrived, they found out the boy got the gun from his home.

Police were able to get the gun from the boy. Officer said an investigation showed that the parents did take necessary precautions in storing the gun. But the child was able to get around them.

The boy was arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges.
