Lightning strike sparks small fire near Beulah

A lightning strike caused a small fire west of Pueblo Mountain Park Sunday afternoon.

A helitanker made three drops on the Squirrel Creek wildfire. It burned about one-tenth of an acre of U.S. Forest Service land.

Ralph Bella with the U.S. Forest Service said Sunday’s fire is 100 percent contained and under control. Bella said fires like the one his agency responded to on Sunday are common.

Numerous lightning strikes on Saturday also kept fire crews busy.
