High Speed Pursuit Ends in Arrest

One male is in custody after a high speed chase in Colorado Springs.

The incident happened around 10:40 pm the night of July 5 near the intersection of Marksheffel and Bradley Rd.

An El Paso County Deputy noticed the vehicle was accelerating rapidly, in reverse, toward the patrol vehicle.

The deputy tried to avoid beinghit and attempted to stop the suspectin the car. The driver failed to stop and a pursuit began.

A short time later deputies saw the vehicle near Highway 94 and Marksheffel. Unmarked patrolcars followed the vehicle south on Marksheffel and attempted another traffic stop near Drennan Rd.

The driver failed to stop againand drove off. Spike strips were thrown on the street near Bradley Rd. The car’s tired deflated and the driver pulled over.

The driver is identified as Ryan Ellsworth, 36. He is booked on several traffic violations, including reckless driving and second degree assault.
