Colorado unemployment rate drops to 5.8 percent

Colorado unemployment dropped to 5.8 percent in May, putting the state close to the pre-recession unemployment level.

The state labor department said Friday that nearly 9,100 jobs were added between April and May, the 31st straight month of job growth. The leisure and hospitality industry, construction and professional and business services added the most jobs.

The last time the state’s unemployment rate was lower was in November 2008, when it hit 5.7 percent.
