Missing man’s body pulled from Arkansas River

The search for a missing Canon City man came to a sad end Tuesday (6/17/14).

The remains of Shane Bollig, 42, were pulled from the Arkansas River at 12:17 p.m.

Bollig was fishing with a friend near Florence Monday when his dog went into the river. He went into the water to rescue his dog. The animal made it out of the water, Bollig did not.

A team called the Arkansas Headwaters Group found the body after spending all of Tuesday morning searching.

Bollig’s body was found 1.26 miles downstream from where he disappeared.

Foul play is not suspected.
