Arson suspected in Security-Widefield grass fire

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says arson is being investigated as the cause of a fire that burned three acres on the north shore of McCrae Reservoir (Carp Lake) Tuesday (6/17/14).

The fire started in the area of Widefield Park and the Fountain Valley School.

Fontaine Blvd. was closed between Grinnell Blvd. and Drury Lane. It is now open.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says the fire was reported at 1:15 p.m.

The fire is contained, but firefighters are still monitoring hot spots.
