Couple wed on Friday the 13th

Triskaidekaphobia. It’s the fear of the number 13 – related specifically to Friday the 13th.

According to the Phobia Institute of North Carolina, an estimated 20 million people in the United States are affected by a fear of this day. Some are so concerned, they avoid their normal routines and don’t even leave the house, but that’s not the case for everyone. KRDO met a Colorado Springs couple who said “I Do” on Friday the 13th.

Barbara and Roger Linville were married November 13th, 60 years ago. For the Linvilles, being married on the supposed superstitious day has been anything but bad luck.

“One thing led to another. I was in the Army and she was still going to high school,” said Roger Linville.

“I was going to get shipped to Korea, so I talked her into getting married before I left,” said Linville.

They met at the skating rink and were wed about 60 days later. Linvilles said they don’t have a secret for having a long and successful marriage.

“We just love each other, I guess,” said Barbara.

The Linvilles will celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary in November.
