Colorado rejects pot for post-traumatic stress

Colorado has for a third time rejected marijuana to treat post-traumatic stress.

A House committee voted 6-5 Monday not to make PTSD the ninth medical condition for which Colorado doctors can recommend pot.

Colorado allows marijuana for all adults over 21. But sponsors wanted PTSD added to the medical list. They said PTSD sufferers are going to pot dispensaries and getting a so-called “budtender” to recommend pot, when they should be consulting doctors. Medical marijuana is also taxed at much lower rates that recreational pot.

Physician groups testified against the proposal. The state Health Department has twice rejected petitions to add PTSD to the list of qualifying medical marijuana conditions.
