Poll: Colorado still backs legal pot

Coloradans think marijuana legalization has been good for the state and hasn’t made driving less safe, according to a new poll out Monday.

But the Quinnipiac University poll showed that just 15 percent have used marijuana since recreational sales began in January.

Fifty-two percent said that marijuana legalization has been good for Colorado, with 38 percent saying it’s been bad and 10 percent unsure. Asked whether legalization has made driving less safe, 54 percent said no and 39 percent said yes.

Coloradans were more divided on the effect of legal pot on the criminal justice system. Fifty percent said legalization will have a positive impact on the criminal justice system, with 40 percent saying it will have a negative impact and the rest unsure.

The telephone poll was conducted April 15-21 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.7 points.
