Colorado lawmakers set college tuition caps

A bill to lower tuition hike caps at public colleges and universities awaits the governor’s pen in Colorado.

The state House voted 48-16 Friday to lower maximum annual tuition hikes from 9 percent to 6 percent. The bill also adds about $100 million to higher education funding. Public colleges saw deep budget cuts during the recent recession.

The measure has already passed the Senate.
