GOP governor hopefuls pledge repeal of gun laws

The Republican gubernatorial hopefuls say they would undo many of the policies enacted by Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper, including new gun restrictions and possibly in-state tuition for immigrants in the country illegally.

The candidates also said they would execute convicted mass-murdered Nathan Dunlap, who was granted an indefinite stay by Hickenlooper last year.

The three candidates – former U.S. Rep. Bob Beauprez (bo-PRAY’), Secretary of State Scott Gessler, and former state Sen. Mike Kopp – made their pitches Thursday on a KUSA-TV debate.

The three candidates said they oppose abortion, but Gessler said there should be exemptions for rape and incest. Beauprez said he respects those who disagree with his stance on abortion.

A fourth candidate, former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, chose not to participate in the debate.

The GOP primary is in June.
