Colorado sending National Guard to Washington

Colorado is sending National Guard members to help in the response to the mudslide in Washington.

Gov. John Hickenlooper tweeted Friday that Colorado was sending 16 Guard members to the state along with “our thoughts and prayers.”

National Guard spokesman Lt. Skye Robinson confirmed the move but didn’t immediately have details about how the Guard members would be helping.

The Colorado National Guard played a leading role in evacuating people trapped by massive flooding in mountain towns last fall.
