Baby girl can’t wait, born on the side of highway 83

A baby girl was born on the side of Highway 83 in Douglas County Tuesday morning (3/25/14).

Nathan Simpson was rushing his wife Stephanie to Parker Adventist Hospital when the couple realized they weren’t going to make it.

Nathan pulled over in a remote area halfway between Colorado Springs and Denver and called 9-1-1. The Franktown Fire Department says it received the call at 6:23 a.m. from near the intersection of Highway 83 and E. Jones Road.

The hospital says the baby was beginning to crown just as rescuers from Tri Lakes Fire and Franktown Fire arrived.

Stefanie and her newborn daughter Karaline were transported to the hospital and are doing fine.

Karaline is their fourth daughter, according to the hospital.
