Loveland officer shot during traffic stop

Authorities say a Loveland police officer who was shot and wounded during a nighttime traffic stop is in intensive care at a local hospital, but he is expected to survive.

Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Halloran said Monday officers found a vehicle early Monday and they are searching for at least two suspects.

Halloran says that shortly before 8 p.m. an officer said over his radio that shots had been fired as he made a traffic stop.

Halloran says the officer returned fire. It’s not known if a suspect was hit, but hospitals have been notified to be on the lookout for someone with a gunshot wound.
