NFL commissioner would consider MMJ for concussions

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the NFL would consider allowing athletes to use marijuana to treat concussions and other head injuries if medical experts deemed it a legitimate solution, according to the USA Today.

The report comes from KRDO NewsChannel 13’s Denver news partner, KMGH 7News.

“I’m not a medical expert,” Goodell told the USA Today. “We will obviously follow signs. We will follow medicine and if they determine this could be proper usage in any context, we will consider that. Our medical experts are not saying that right now,” Goodell continued.

According to a report from HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel,” it is estimated that between 50 percent-60 percent of the league’s players regularly use marijuana for pain management.

The two home states of the Super Bowl teams, Colorado and Washington, are the only states that allow marijuana to be legally used for recreational use.
