Accused hostage taker who was shot by police dies

A man who Denver Police say was using a hostage as a human shield when he was shot by officers has died from his injuries.

The Denver County Coronor confirms Blas Leroux, 34, passed away on the evening of Friday, January 17, 2014.

Police say that Leroux held three people hostage in the 7-Eleven at Colfax and Perry on the morning of Monday, January 13, 2014. None of the hostages were hurt.

Police say that at one point Leroux emerged from the store using a woman as a human shield. KMGH-TV reports he was shot by police as he tried to pull her back into the store.
