The new marijuana law isn’t slowing down college applications in Colorado.

Several Colorado colleges are seeing an increase in applications.

Out-of-state applications for the fall rose 30percentfor this upcoming school year at University of Colorado Boulder.

At Colorado College 80 percentof students are from out of state. Its application rates jumped 25 percent.

The vice president of enrollment at the college says it’s a consistent trend that’s been taking place over the past several years.

“We’ve received a fair amount of questions particularly from out of state families. But our policies haven’t changed. It’s an interesting time for Colorado being the first to pass the law. We certainly relish that Colorado’s in the news, and actually that might help Colorado College,” said Mark Hatch, with Colorado College.

The college expects to see more than7,000 applications this year – possibly its highest ever.
