Pikes Peak Park neighbors not surprised by recent robbery

It’s just another robbery.

That’s how neighbors we talked to in the Pikes Peak Park area of southeast Colorado Springs feel after a robbery happened Thursday night (01/16/2014) at an apartment complex at 2013 Carmel Dr.

Colorado Springs Police say the robbers went into the victim’s apartment, sprayed the person with mace and robbed the place.

Springs Police say there have been more than five robberies in or around the Pikes Peak Park area since the beginning of January.

Patty Simpson lives in Pikes Peak Park.

Simpson feels like she has to protect herself, just in case there is somebody at the door she doesn’t know.

“I ask who it is, if I don’t recognize that person, most of the time we have weapons that we keep,” she said.

Simpson feels it is up to each person to be aware of their surroundings.

“Be aware of different people that pass through, get to know people on your street,” she said.
