Pueblo limits roadside memorials

The Pueblo City Council is limiting roadside memorials for people killed in traffic accidents to 45 days.

Pueblo Parks director Steven Meier told council members the city wants to be sensitive to families, but some rules are needed.

Officials say other communities set a 30-day deadline or a 60-day deadline for cleaning up a memorial site.

Council president Sandy Daff said Monday other cities let grieving families buy a marker, which can serve as a reminder to drive safely.

According to the Pueblo Chieftain, officials are considering other alternatives, including benches.
