Utility usage is going up

The low on Monday morning was minus 10 in Colorado Springs and minus 6 in Pueblo. When it gets that cold, most people crank up the thermostat, but that can put a strain on your wallet.

Colorado Springs Utilities has seen usage go up as the temperatures have gone down over the last few days.

And it’s not just CSU that has seen demand peak over the last few days. Most of the nation is caught in the deep freeze with lowscolder than-30 in parts of Minnesota.

But there is something that you can do to cut downthose utility bills.

Patrice Lehermeier of Colorado Springs Utilities said, “use a programmable thermostat, or even if you don’t have a programmable thermostat, don’t have large swings in your degrees.”

Despite the high usage, CSU says that there is enoughfuel to keep their facilities running.
